from opensolaris.org, its about The Java Desktop System which is build from gnome desktop environment : “After longer delay than we anticipated, the second release of the Java Desktop System sources are available”.
The first JDS code release is based on the GNOME 2.10 desktop. Subsequent releases will be based on updates of the GNOME desktop as they get released by the upstream community. The build environment and changes that Sun have made to JDS are now freely available. Going forward to hope to provide future updates until such a time when a source code management solution is available under the OpenSolaris project.
The Java Desktop System is a secure and comprehensive enterprise desktop software solution that combines the best of open source innovation. Java Desktop System is a major component of the Solaris 10 Operating System, x86 and SPARC architecure editions, and an earlier release is also available with a Linux OS.
